How about recycling feed bags--especially the ones that are stronger than paper.

I just made a purse out of recycled coffee bags (the metallic kind you get at the grocery store) & duct tape. Still need to blog about it, though!

Something I've often wondered is where does the copyright laws stand on reusing copyrighted labels? I would have thought similar to using them in mixed media or collage, however, see many bags these days. I'm interested in your thoughts.

@CT studios: I used food labels in a mixed media collage that was published in Cloth Paper Scissors magazine, but because they were torn into strips there was no problem. I think most of these are for personal use, and the ones on Etsy can 'probably' get away with it because they're just small businesses. You have a good point, but most of my art includes stuff (often cookbooks) that is still under copyright, but it's for my own use or gifts to friends, so I don't worry about it.

There are several organizations in other countries, however, that make bags for profit from what is in essence, trash. They recycle chip bags, juice boxes, etc. Perhaps in the case of recycling, it's a different ball game. I'm not sure actually, but I would hope that's the case.

Someone has purchased their product, you are not reselling feed ... Using their sacks/bags is valuable free advertising. It does not violate copyright.
